Love is TANGO and TANGO is love! Yes, it is a dance, yet so much more than just any dance. It is an ongoing conversation between two souls, two hearts and two bodies. It is a sacred dance we enter in with one another, where both ‘masculine’ and ‘feminine’ feel fully expressed and honored.

The Argentine Tango originated in the late 19th century in the capital city of Buenos Aires. The neighborhood of La Boca, “The Mouth,” where all the ships came into port, was a cultural melting pot. Immigrants of dozens of cultures, ages, and backgrounds came together. The dance was originally danced for men, by men, in places where women were not allowed. That changed when “Ladies of the Evening” were first introduced to the Tango, and the dance quickly evolved into an art form that expressed the dreams, hopes, tragedies, and trials of life in the early days of Argentina. The life struggles of these early Tango dancers tell the story of lost loves, loneliness, hope, passion, among other themes that we can relate to even today. The Argentine Tango continues to inspire artists, romantics, and dreamers across the globe… people like you and me.

90th birthday, arizona black history, arizona history, grandmother, inspiration, Inspirational women, on this day in 1923, tucson black history
On this day, 90 years ago, my inspiration was born. My grandmother Magnolia, queen of all things classy, endured the Great Depression, battled segregation in the Southern US, lost her young husband in World War II, and triumphed over other tragedies. Every day of these past 90 years, she has spread love and warmth to all… and through it all, she continues to be one of the most stylish, fashionable, respected, and beloved women in her community. Happy birthday, Grandmommy!
To commemorate this milestone, here’s a snapshot of life 90 years ago: Grandmommy has taught us all that you don’t have to look far for inspiration. Sometimes the most incredible people are those that are closest to you. ❤

Last week, I had the exciting privilege of participating in the INTEL NIA Business Expo. It was an amazing event.
Hosted by the Network of Intel African American Employees, the event took place at Intel’s Southwest headquarters in Chandler, Arizona. It was a great opportunity to meet many of Intel’s talented employees, as well as connect with inspiring business owners in the Valley. Among the impressive entrepreneurs that were present:
Isha Cogborn of the Epiphany Institute. Her acclaimed business coaching and motivation skills prove she lives her motto: “work doesn’t have to be a four-letter word.”
Tremaine Jasper, owner of Phxsoul.com. If something’s happening in Arizona, whether it’s music, art, sports, or business related, Phxsoul’s resources ensure you’re the first to know.
Eboni Farmer of Rare Essence Studio. Their hair artistry has landed on the pages of nationwide magazines, including Essence. For a mane makeover, head right to Rare Essence Studio in Tempe or Glendale.
It was fabulous meeting everyone else present, including: Michael Bond of 1st Place Tutoring, RL Davis of Future Photo Group, Michael Muhammad of Organo Gold, Karen Coleman-Ostrov of Cruise One, Kendra Tillman of WAHM Success Radio, Donna Sewell of Cafe Green Pastures, and Carolyn Bogan of Travel 2C the World.
Most of all, many thanks to Intel’s NIA. It was a pleasure meeting the many talented professionals of Intel and I’m always excited for any opportunity to network with a diverse array of business owners from across the Phoenix “Valley of the Sun.” ❤
